Shell Mask:  A broken sea shell from the beach of Maui formed the basis for the painted decoration of this mask.  Its shape was inspired by an African tribal piece.  However, the beautiful coral, green and yellow colors of the shell have been imitated in acrylic paint to form the visual textures on the mask.  Effigy animal figures carved from stone appear at the ends of several wooden arrows wrapped in copper that come from the front and top of the piece.  Incised copper foil and shell have been added to the facial features to make this piece truly unique.  Placed on wood painted red with raffia woven strands around the edge, this piece is stimulating to the eyes as well as to the touch!  8” high x 6“ wide (with 22” of raffia hanging down and 4” arrows pointing up) $65.00
